Your always-on security engineer

devlo runs an AI security review of your GitHub repositories daily or weekly. Each confirmed vulnerability becomes an issue, each safe fix a pull request, and you approve every merge.

Attackers move fast. Do you?

Exploits now land the day a flaw is disclosed, and most teams take months to fix one. A daily scan with a ready fix turns months into days.

  • 44% of AI-generated code failed security tests (Veracode, 2026: https://veracode.com/resources/analyst-reports/2026-genai-code-security-report)
  • 32% of newly exploited CVEs were exploited on or before disclosure day (VulnCheck, 2025: https://www.vulncheck.com/blog/state-of-exploitation-1h-2025)
  • 252 days for a typical organization to fix half its known flaws (Veracode, 2025: https://www.veracode.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/State-of-Software-Security-2025.pdf)
  • 28.6M new secrets exposed in public GitHub commits in 2025 (GitGuardian, 2026: https://www.gitguardian.com/state-of-secrets-sprawl-report-2026)

How it works

Three steps from scan to pull request. Merging stays yours.

  1. Scan on a schedule. Daily or weekly, the scanner reads each repository at its default branch: dependencies, secrets, injection risks, access control, configuration and CI. Known findings aren't filed again.
  2. Open an issue per finding. Each confirmed vulnerability becomes one GitHub issue, labeled by severity, showing where it is, how an attacker reaches it, and the impact.
  3. Open the fix as a pull request. For small, safe fixes, devlo pushes a branch and opens a pull request that closes the issue. Bigger changes get a plan in the issue. devlo never merges; you review and merge when you agree.

What it catches

The problems that matter, in any language.

  • Injection: Untrusted input reaching queries, shells, templates and pages. Examples: SQL injection, Command injection, XSS, SSRF, Path traversal, Unsafe deserialization.
  • Authentication and access: Checks that are missing, inconsistent or easy to forge. Examples: Missing permission checks, IDOR, Weak sessions, JWT mistakes, Missing rate limits.
  • Secrets and exposure: Keys committed to source, config or CI, and sensitive data leaking through logs and errors. Reported by location, never shown. Examples: API keys, Private keys, Connection strings, Secrets in logs, Verbose errors.
  • Cryptography: Algorithms and settings that look safe and aren't. Examples: Weak password hashing, Fixed IVs and salts, Predictable tokens, Disabled TLS checks.
  • Dependencies and supply chain: Pinned versions with a published advisory, and the pipeline that builds them. Examples: Known CVEs, Outdated lockfiles, Unpinned Actions, Root containers.
  • Configuration: Settings that are fine locally and dangerous in production. Examples: Debug mode, Open CORS, Missing security headers, Broad cloud permissions.

Fixes arrive as pull requests

A finding without a fix is just more work. When the fix is small and safe, devlo opens it as a short pull request in your repository's style. Bigger changes get a plan in the issue.

54%: In a 2026 study of 6,080 AI-written security patches, more than half failed to fix the flaw or added a new one. Every devlo fix is a pull request you review. AI security review vs. SAST

SAST (static application security testing) tools match code against known patterns: fast and predictable. devlo reads the code. Most teams run both.

Set up in five steps

  1. Connect GitHub and choose the repositories devlo can access.
  2. Open Automations. The Security Scanner is already there, turned off.
  3. Set its Scope and schedule: daily or weekly.
  4. Turn it on, or click Test run to scan now.
  5. Watch for issues labeled security and the pull requests that close them.

Common questions

What is AI security code review?

An AI model reads your code the way a security engineer would and reports each vulnerability with its file, line, impact and a proposed fix. devlo runs it on a schedule across your repositories and delivers the results as GitHub issues and pull requests.

How is AI security review different from SAST?

SAST (static application security testing) tools match known patterns and report every match. devlo reads the code, reports only findings it can back with evidence, and opens a pull request for small, safe fixes. Most teams run both.

Can devlo fix vulnerabilities automatically?

Yes, when the fix is small and safe: it pushes a branch and opens a pull request that closes the issue. Your team reviews and merges. devlo never merges on its own.

How do I scan a GitHub repository for vulnerabilities on a schedule?

Connect GitHub, open Automations, and turn on the Security Scanner. Set its scope and schedule, daily or weekly, and use Test run for the first scan.

GitHub already scans my code. What does devlo add?

GitHub's dependency alerts and code scanning flag known vulnerable versions and code patterns. devlo reads the code for what patterns miss, such as missing permission checks. It backs each finding with evidence and opens a pull request when the fix is safe.

How are false positives handled?

devlo opens an issue only when it can show the file, line, how an attacker reaches it, and the impact. It skips theoretical risks, test data, and generated or copied-in third-party code, and remembers past runs. You can add exceptions to its instructions.

Does devlo find leaked secrets?

Yes: API keys, tokens, passwords, private keys and connection strings in source, configuration and CI files. It reports the file and line, never the value, and puts the steps to rotate the secret in the issue.

Is my code used for training or stored?

No. devlo works on a temporary copy of your repository and deletes it when the run ends. It has zero data retention agreements with model providers and is SOC 2 Type II. Only results are kept.

Which model does it use, and what does a scan cost?

Any model in devlo's picker; the scanner starts on a default that balances cost and depth. Each run uses credits, depending on repository size and model.

Which languages and repository sizes are supported?

Any language on GitHub. devlo reads code rather than applying per-language rules, and covers large repositories over several runs.
